Your hips and knees are your largest joints. They support your body's weight and must work in close coordination to provide the mobility most people take for granted, until injury, overuse, arthritis, or other problems interfere.
Learn some of the causes of hip and knee pain and how to prevent and heal them. Explore simple effective tools to create balance, strength and mobility for tight hips, stiff knees, tight hamstrings, torn meniscus and joint replacements.
The workshop is open and of value to anyone with hips and knees no matter their current state of wellness.

Exploring Anatomy for Yoga
Yoga Home of Therapeutics, Oklahoma City, OK

The body is the canvas on which we paint with the brush of Yoga. Like any artist must be familiar with the medium with which they work, yogis and yoga instructors can mine their practice for deeper experience by being intimately familiar with the "nuts and bolts" of their body.
This will be a conscientious and detailed examination of the major anatomical and physiological systems of the body, how they function and the direct effect of yoga on these systems to enhance health and well being. There will be both lecture and a working exploration of the poses and how the information applies in practice.
Develop a clear understanding of anatomy and physiology and how it's many systems work in concert with one another. Deepen your own body awareness and broaden your understanding of what we bring to our mats.
Some advanced preparation and reading is required. Details will be provided with registration.

Yoga for Healthy Backs
The Houstonian, Houston, TX
www.houstonian.com
Contact Misha Laird @ yoga@houstonian.com
Did you know that almost 80% of injuries treated by massage therapists, chiropractors and physiotherapists are back-related? The back is an important part of our core, and a healthy back is necessary to stabilize the body in movement and in balance. A healthy back makes the difference between a sedentary existence and a healthy, happy, active lifestyle. Our back is used more often in daily movements than most other muscle groups, but it tends to be the muscle group we care for least.
In this workshop, we will explore the elements required to create balance, flexible support and joy in your back. Learn to prevent and heal back issues by releasing nerve flow in the and cultivating specific muscle fibers to balance and open the distribution of energy in your back, so that it can feel strong and supported. We will combine a sound foundation in the functional mechanics of the body with the joy of yoga leading to a strong, healthy back and a more active lifestyle.
